Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is a Mongolian Buddhist figure in an antique Gau box. It comes from a major Chinese collector/dealer in San Francisco who has amassed a large collection of fine Mongolian clay tsa tsas, miniature bronzes, Thangkas and other Buddhist items. The tsa tsa is made from gilded and polychromed finely molded clay, and depicts a delightful Bodhisattva. There is some minor wear, but is it is generally in great shape. It comes in an antique bronze Gau box. It is a highly unusual piece The Gau is 1 and 1/2 inches high. It looks to have some sort of writing in the gold area that frames the figure. I have the glass taken out in order to get clear photos, as it glass is quite old, and could use to be replaced.
