This is a very beautiful and old very small fine Thai Naga Buddha in a Northern Thai style. The face, as you can see, is fantastic. The 5 headed Naga Mandorla is separately cast. The place that it attaches on the back of the sculpture is cast in the form of an elephant head!. It stands about 3 and 5/8 inches high including the back plate. It is is excellent condition. The back plate leans a lttle to one side unless carefully positioned: this appears to be part of the original manufacture. I am guessing 18/19thC on this, although it may be earlier. I haven't had one like this so I'm unable to date it reliably. In excellent condition. Lovely!
