This is a very beautiful and large Thai Bronze Buddha from the late Sukothai city of Kamphen Phet. Pieces from this area are related to both Sukothai and Ayuthaya Buddhas although they have a distinctive style of base, and are often a bit more stout. Pieces from this area of this size are relatively uncommon. Guaranteed to be an authentic old piece. It is in excellent condition. He stands a full 13 inches tall to the tip of the finial by 7.5 inches wide at the base. I put a 6 inch Tibetan piece in one photo to give perspective of its very good size. Covering the piece are remains of dark red and black lacquer and gilding. Nicely sculpted, with a deeply meditative countenance. I've not had one like this before.
