Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is a Mongolian Buddhist 19thC Tsa Tsa of the Buddha of the future. The reverse has a wonderful stupa-I have not seen this on other items of this type. It is in outstanding condition. It comes from a major Chinese collector/dealer in San Francisco who has amassed a large collection of fine Mongolian clay tsa tsas, miniature bronzes, Thangkas and other Buddhist items. He is also a certified ASA Appraiser, and has vetted some of the major asian art shows on the west coast. The tsa tsa is made from gilded and polychromed finely molded clay. The Gau box is a little over 4 inches high to the top of the loops by 3 inches wide by 1 and 1/4 inches deep; the Tsa Tsa is roughly 3 and 3/8 inch high by 2 and 1/2 inches wide. It is a good size;I put a typically sized gau and tsa tsa to give a perspective of it's mass . Mongolian items of this age, quality, and condition are becoming extremely hard to find.
