This is a delightful Pagan era Buddha from Burma. It is an authentic one: the vast majority of this type of piece on the market are either reproductions, or are 18/19th century emulations. This piece came to me from a Chinese dealer, who did not know what style it was (if he had I would not be able to offer it for such a good price). He indicated that it had come out of China, and that it had been there for at least 100 years. It has been lightly cleaned: you can see the underlying metal on a few of the lotus petals on the base. There is a thick patina: it may have come out of a burial site. The face has a very nice smile which makes the piece quite desireable. He stands 4 and 3/8 inches tall by 3 and 3/8 inches wide. This kind of piece is extremely hard to find these days.
