Item id: 437

This is an extremely rare item: it is a bronze Buddhist Stele that tells the stories of the Buddha's life, from birth, to enlightenment, to death all told in small figures surrounding a larger central Buddha. I have seen a number of related andagu stone and terracotta ones over the years, but this is the first one in bronze that I have come accross. The casting is not refined, and the patina looks to be original, so the figures are not detailed. The overall effect of the piece, however, is extremely powerful. My collector friends feel that I should not sell this one, as I am unlikely to find another, but each week I walk around my home and let the ones that are ready to find new homes speak to me-this week this one spoke. It stands 5.5 inches tall. The condition is good, with no losses or repairs. It leans to one side, but this is original to the piece and it stands quite solidly.
