This is an exceptionally nice early Buddha that I think comes from the area in the north of Laos or south of Yunnan China known as Chiang Rung. It has a distinctive and beautiful face, and is cast out of a very high quality bronze. I've seen others of this style, and this one is particularly fine. It has traces of the original black lacquer. He stands 7.25 inches tall, and is extremely heavy for his size. This one looks better than I could capture in the photos.
