Remarkable Antique Multi-Arm and Multi-Head from Cambodia or Vietnam. Purchased from a gentleman who bought this many years ago from a farmer in rural Vietnam, along with several other pieces the farmer had been keeping in his barn. The seller believed that this piece is in the late Cham style. The Cham culture (Champa) flourished in an area which is now part of southern Vietnam. While the Cham culture (as the parallel Khmer culture in Cambodia) flourished for many centuries up through the 13th century. I believe that this piece is antique, though probably not a period piece. Possibly 18/19thC, though I am truly not sure how to date with accuracy. Large at 15.25" tall, 12' at widest point, 5.25" deep. Gorgeous! Commanding presence, with great sensitivity and finesse to the sculpting and casting. Each of the 9 faces is sculpted with great feeling. Far more impressive in person than in photos.
