This is a very nice and very uncommon Thai Walking Buddha from the 19th, or possibly late 18th century. This form of Buddha is unique to Thailand. It as made famous in the 14/15thC Sukothai Period, and was emulated in later centuries. This piece has a wonderful fluidity and motion found in successful sculptures of this type. I've had very few of these over the years: it is the only complete example I currently have in my collection. He is a nice size at 9.75 inches tall. He is as red as he looks in the photos. He does not appear to have been gilded. In excellent condition with a few expectable dings, but no losses or repairs.
