This is an exquisite and very well cast young Krishna-It has been estimated by an expert in Hindu sculpture as 17th century or earlier. It came to me from a long time high end Asian Art dealer/practioner who had spent time in India in the 70's and 80's and had bought a number of fine pieces. She had closed down her business sold off her other pieces but kept this one, which she had owned for close to 30 years. She had wanted close to 3500 dollars for it a while back when I inquired about it. Recently she fell on hard times and needed to sell it: I could not pay near that price, but was willing to give her the money she needed to cover her bills. I gave her 1150 for it, and am starting him for that same price plus shipping. He is spectacular: with the patina and wear of centuries of devotion. There is wear to the face, but the light and expressiveness shines through. One earlobe is missing, which does not detract. The sense of movement in this strongly sculpted, cast, and finished piece is palpable. He stands 6 inches tall.
