Beautiful 14/15thC wood Burmese Buddha. The face, with it's distinctive eyebrows, smile, and relatively large head indicate that this piece is Post Pagan in style, and carved during the Ava period. The finial on top of the head is set relatively far back on the head, which is another Pagan feature. Carved from a solid piece of teak, which is the only reason he survived for so many centuries in such a hot and humid climate. Quite large and heavy, with a total height of 32.75", figure alone is approximately 29" tall, 12" wide, 8" deep.A real survivor.
