Large and very beautiful 18/19thC Sri Lankan Kandy style bronze Buddha. Total height is 13.75" to the top of the Naga's head). Very animated Naga leans a bit to one side-he has an unusually expressive face for a snake. He also has extremely finely incised scales covering his body. Tradionally, on Sri Lankan Buddhas the details are added and then finished by hand after the piece is cast. . The Buddha has an exquisite face-one of the nicest I have seen on this type. Solid cast Buddha is very heavy, and is 7 7/8" tall. From a French collection.
