Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is an exquisite and very uncommon 15th century Tibetan bronze Buddha. The quality of the sculpting and casting are excellent, as is the patina. The base is sealed, although the plate appears to have been removed and placed back in. The style of the face and the design of the robes are distinctive and unlike typical 15th century Tibetan pieces, and this Buddha may be from one of the smaller Kingdoms. The quality however, demonstrates a significant level of skill. I could go on with a description, but the photos tell the story better than any words can. He sits 5.5 inches tall by a full 4 inches wide at the base. Lovely!
