This is an early and a particularly nice Mandalay style Buddha which immediately caught my eye and captured my heart. It is late 18th or early 19th century: the body tends to be longer and thinner on the earlier ones, and the hair is less articulated. The face is less round on the earlier ones. He is a very nice size at 9.25 inches tall by 7 inches wide, and is even larger than the height suggests, as he has no base and no finial. I put a 5.25 inch standing Indian bronze in one photo to give a sense of his good size. He is thickly cast and weighs a good 5.25 pounds. As with a few of my other listings, I need to encourage you to be careful as there are many copies of this style on the market these days, and that most of those sold on the web are not what they appear (even if they come with certificates or guarantees). A graceful beauty. Note the flowing intricate robes. Very well cast with an excellent patina.
