Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is an extremely unusual and very wonderful example of its type. The painting is wonderful and is quite vivid. The piece is indeed old, even though it looks bright and crisp. I has faint Tibetan letters on the back. It has the smell of the Himalayas. It almost surely spent all of its life in a Gau box. This type is usually referred to as Tibetan, although many of them actually come out of Mongolia. It is a very good size at almost 4.5 inches tall. It stands securely on its own. My guess on age based on experience and from showing it to others is about 100 years old. It is not inexpensive, but it is the best of its kind I have encountered in many years, and pieces like this are impossible to find these days at almost any price.
