Beautiful Antique Burmese Buddhist Group. This rare monk on his stomach in devotion form is uniquely Burmese. Exceptionally large and finely cast for its type. Both figures are solid-cast, and are quite heavy for their size. Probably part of a temple group which included many other related pieces which each told a different story from the Buddha's life. In a 17/18thC style, but may be later. Best of its type I have encountered in 20+ years (along with item 5616, which is related, and was purchased at the same auction). Total length, to tip of folded hands is 9.25 inches, width is 3 inches, height to top of seated figure's head is 5 3/8 inches
