This is a spectacular 13thC late Pagan Buddha. It has thick lacquer which obscures some of the details, but underneath I believe the casting is quite good. Remarkably, I believe that the 700-800 year old lacquer is original, which is extremely rare: It must have been excavated from a chamber or something to be in such condition. The remaining gilding is also original. It is in wonderful condition except for loss to a bit of the base. It sits 5 and 7/8 inches tall. I have never seen another like this, even in books- with such an incredible stylized face. I've had this for a very long time, and hadn't planned to sell it, but a regular client had specifically asked for photos of any early gilded Burmese Buddhas. A special item. Guaranteed authentic
