Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This beautiful antique Mongolian Thangka features vivid color, powerful presence, and classic late-19th to early-20th-century artistry. Measuring 9" x 12 1/8", it was originally housed in a large wooden gau shrine box—likely painted orange—with a glass front for devotional display. I acquired this piece 30 years ago from a Mongolian friend known for sourcing exceptional traditional works during a time when fine examples were still obtainable. Richly painted and full of dynamic energy, it is an outstanding representation of Mongolian Buddhist art. Domestic shipping included; international shipping $40.
