This is a lovely and large vintage/old Thai Bronze Buddha Head with very distinctive styling. It was collected 35 years ago by a man who was living in SE Asia and who worked for Air America (i.e. the CIA). I recently bought a large part of his estate, which included several early rain drums, many bronze statues, early ceramics, and several other wonderful items. It is in a 17/18thC style, but I believe it may actually be cast in the first half of the 20th century, as there were many of this type of head cast at that time, and while it has some legitmate wear, it does not have the typical wear or is of the casting of the 17/18th century examples. As I am unsure of precise age, I will simply say old (I do not believe that it was new when it wad purchased 35 yeas ago). It is a very good size at over 8 inches tall by over 4 inches wide not including the base. With the base it is a full 11.5 inches tall. NOTE: The estate was selling individual items before I came along and negotiated a price for the entire lot - this is one of the few which still has its price tag still on it - which is 1200 DOLLARS!
