Antique Thai Sukothai Amber Buddha. Probably 19thC C-possibly earlier or later. Extremely rare in this huge size- especially of this quality. Looks and feels like cherry amber. I do not see any bubbles or inclusions- so I am unsure if it is carved from an as-found large piece or a reconstituted block. From the estate of a founding partner of a large law firm. I purchased 3 other pieces from the same which came with documentation indicating they were purchased in Bangkok from high end shops in the early 1960's. All 3 were dated as Sukothai 13th to 15th century and appear to be period pieces. I've searched extensively and can find nothing comparable, so very hard to date or price. Sits an impressive 13 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide, 5.75 inches deep. Gorgeous! Missing the original finial-otherwise in perfect condition.
