Magnificent antique Nepalese Elephant with Buddhist lion dog on his back. Originally there was something which stood atop the lion- either a lamp or figure. Probably sat at the foot of a larger image, as the elephant is offering a lotus blossom in devotion. The elephant has beautiful and peaceful face, and the lion dog is fierce. Much higher quality than most Nepalese bronzes. Large at 9.75 inches tall, 10 inches deep, 4.25 inches wide. Not inexpensive for a 19/20thC Nepalese bronze, but it is the best Nepalese elephant I have offered by far.
