Medium size detailed Japanese Edo period depiction of one of the realms of Buddhist Hell. Probably a hand colored and paint overlaid woodblock print. Came as part of a set of seven(this is the second largest). Others listed or will be listed shortly. Some losses, as seen the photos. Image measures 7 x 20 inches. The set was brought back by a soldier in 1946 from Japan, and then framed and given as a mother's day gift in 1953 ( based on notes on the back of one of the frames). Animated, intricate, and filled with energy. Could use to be re-framed.
