Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Antique Tibetan or other Himalayan deity. Remarkable composition- he is astride an elephant, with a tiger, rat or mongoose, a snake, a tiny lion(?)on his shoulder, and another animal in his raised hand. Looks to have authentic ritual use. Old, though unsure how to date. Large for a clay tablet at 9.25 inches tall, 6.75 inches wide, 1.75 inches thick. Canvass-like material covers the back and sides- may be consecrated. The Rahu figure at the top is particularly animated and well formed. No apparent damager or repairs.
