Superb Buddhist Conch Horn. 18thC Kandy period Sri Lanka. Has old museum/collection numbers that suggest that this was collected and cataloged in the early 20thC. The brass mount is expertly cast and incised for this specific shell. This is the first shell from Sri Lanka of this type I have seen outside a book in 30 years of collecting, so I believe this piece is exceedingly rare. Size is 3.75 inches tall, 9.75 inches long. It has an incredible strong resonant tone when blown- as good as I've heard from any shell horn. Special.
