Extremely fine 15thC Thai Buddha partial head, likely from a royal foundry. . Originally part of a monumental Buddha that was cast in many parts. Even the head was cast in several parts- this was done in order to be able to gain the highest level of detail and lifelike quality in the completed statue. From the Kamphen Phet period (which occurred just after the Sukhothai period, near the beginning of the Ayuthaya period in Central Thailand). Face is 9 inches tall, 6.25 inches wide. Stand elevates it another 3 inches for a total height of 12 inches. Larger in person than the dimensions convey, and extremely heavy for its size. Inset eyes are almost certainly original. This example is the finest of its type I have seen with my own eyes in 30 years, and rivals any I have seen in any book or museum. I would put it in the to 10 Thai pieces I have ever offered-out of many thousands, over 30+ years. Not inexpensive
