A very rare Thai Sukhothai style Hindu deity - this type was produced for the Brahmen temples in Sukothai in the 14th and 15th centuries during the later phases of the great Sukhothai kingdom. Deity is holding a book in one hand and a conch shell in the other. Stands 10", total height is 11 7/8 inches tall. Solid cast, and incredibly heavy for it's size. There are a number of modern copies on the market (item 1595 is an example), but extremely few authentic examples were produced. First period piece I have come across in 30 years.
