Early head of a monkey- looks to have served a ritual purpose. May be 14thC Majapahit- powerful and extremely old, and with a strong presence- almost certainly many hundreds of years old at the minimum. Came as part of a mixed group of museum de-accessioned pieces at a Butterfield's auction many years ago before the Asian Art Museum moved in San Francisco and they were clearing out their basement. Five inches long by 3 inches tall not including the base. Base not included.
