Very early Buddha or Buddhist figure reportedly excavated in Burma. Came with a now lost yellowed note probably written in the 1940's that claimed it was discovered in an ancient burial site while building roads during WW2. The piece itself is 6 inches tall, height on custom stand is 6.5 inches. Piece in his hand is separate and does not stay in place. Unsure of type of stone. Stylistically different than other early Burmese pieces, so a bit of a mystery. Looks as if it laid on its back for a very long time.
