Extremely early and sensitively modeled solid-cast Burmese Buddha head. Head alone is 2.5 inches tall, height on custom stand is 4 3/8 inches. Hard to date precisely, looks to be Pre-Pagan, and to be more than 1,000 years old and to be Mon or some other related early type of Burmese Buddha. Very rare type. One ear lobe re-attached, otherwise excellent condition with expected surface wear. Often, with these very early Burmese types, the heads were solid cast separately from the hollow cast bodies, and then assembled after they were cast, so it is likely that this piece was cast as you see it here.
