Superb 18thC Burmese Buddha with Miruban fruit in each hand. Probably Mon style, though possibly some Arakan influence. While I have seen this mudra before on a few Mon and Arakan standing Buddhas, it is an extremely uncommon one. The fingers and hands are beautifully articulated for this type of Buddha- a sign of its quality. Remains of original gilding. There are relatively few bronze standing Burmese Buddhas of this period that are of high quality. Design-work is etched in to the surface after casting. Distinctive base. Stands 14.75 inches tall. From an impressive Southern California estate.
