Authentic 14/15thC Khmer Northern Thailand of a standing Buddha from the Ancient City that preceded Chian Seng in the North of Thailand. Probably made of a lead/silver alloy, but hard to know under the strong burial patina. Excavated with a cache of dozens of identical examples in a a container in the forest, probably in the early 1960's. I managed to acquire 8 of them. From a large collection put together in the 1960's and 70's. This is an untouched example of an authentic amulet in a perfect small size to wear. In a modern plexi-glass amulet case. Amulet is a little under inches tall.
The back is written by the previous collector (using the Buddhist calendar-we are in the year 2558). The ancient city referred to is the predecessor to Chiang Mai.
