Rare pair of Japanese Buddhist Celestial Figures made out of lacquer. Probably originally flanked the sides of the head of a very large Buddha in a temple. Size is approximately 23.5 inches tall. Look to be quite early. Some loss, and remains or original patina as seen in photos. Note item 5757, which is a larger and possibly even earlier example of the same type of temple figure.
