Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Nepalese antique altar table. Made is a repousse like technique of hammering copper and brass sheeting over wood. Beautiful and elaborate folk art/religion, with auspicious symbols, animals, figures, a few stones (many missing). Size is 7 3/8 x 16.25 x 6.5 inches. Out of a Scottish collection put together in the 1950's and 60's. Looks to be at least 100 years old, and given it has spent the past 50 years protected in the collected, probably older.
