Extremely rare 14/16thC Thai Sawankalok or related type of ceramic Buddha made during the late Sukhothai period in central Thailand. There were large numbers of plates, bowls, vases, cups, and other traditional forms made during that period but very few Buddha images. This is one of only a small handful of authentic period pieces (and the nicest) I have come across in thirty years of searching. Stands 7 1/4 inches tall, 8 3/8 inches on custom base. No apparent damage or repairs.
