Country Group:South and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam)
Item id: 78

The price of this item has been significantly reduced from the original asking price on my website, and represents an outstanding value. This is a treasure: it is from the earliest periods of Burmese Buddhist art, and is guaranteed to be over 1,000 years old. It has a very heavy untouched burial patina. This obsures the details, and at the same time adds greatly to the profound depth of this Buddha. It is a very good size for such an early piece at 5 and 3/4 inches high. Like most early pieces, it is very thickly solid cast, and appears to have no clay core. It weighs 0ver 42 ounces!!! Check in any auction catalogue or high end asian antique shop and you will find that pieces like this command a very high price
