Very heavily cast 11-13thC Cambodian Garuda finial. The remarkablby deep and complx casting is covered with think lacquer and gilding that make it difficult to see the underlying tour de force in casting. There are a number of this quality of this type on the market= almost all have no lacquer or gilding and are green. This is the only one I know of which still has lacquer/gilding. Possible some lacquer/gilding is later, but I if so, underneath are remains of earlier levels. Size is 13 1/8 inches tall on attached stand.
