This is an extremely beautiful and large Burmese Buddha in Royal Attire from the Arakan Region of Burma. Arakan Buddhas are much less common, and much less known about in the west. This region has a strong influence from both India and Tibet due to its proximity to them. The quality of the casting is exceptional. There are remains of the original lacquer, which probably covered the original piece. It is quite large at 18.5 inches tall by over 11.5 inches wide at the base. I put a 5.5 inch Indian Dancer in one photo to give a sense of its great size. It is related to the Jambupati" style Royal Buddhas from the Shan States of Burma
