Mongolian Thick Copper Repousse Buddha of Long Life (Amateyus). Very nice example at a large size (note the actual size of copper given below is without most of the base or a finial-actual figure is quite large). Sits 8.25 inches tall, 9.75 inches on a custom stand. The original base was probably used to make new Buddhas at a time metal was scarce (often during times of war). Stone in forehead possibly original. Gilding on the face and hands is very fine. One ear was replaced. Quite thick, with good weight for this type of piece suggesting an 18thC dating as the 19thC examples are generally quite thin and light in weight. Photos make the figure appear more slanted than it actually can be addressed by adjusting the base - 7946
