Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Fabulous and large 18/19th C Tibetan Monk. One of the nicest faces you will ever see on any monk at any price-period. Impressive size at 12 3/8 inches tall and 14 7/8 inches on custom stand. Looks to be repousse (and probably copper), though heavier than repousse. I am not positive whether it's copper or bronze. The bottom was re-consecrated long ago with an amazing textile (see photo). The custom base puts him at the perfect angle to see his face straight on and to get the maximum impact from the spiritual light that shines brightly. This is truly a one-of-a-kind statue.
