Superb near monumental antique Thai Buddha head. Size of bronze alone is 14.75 inches tall, 21.5 inches on base. Bottom of base measures 7.5 x 7 5/8 inches. Dating unclear, as this is either an 18/19thC example, or is one of the best 20th century examples I've seen. The corrosion in the eye sockets and mouth, and overall quality of casting suggest an earlier dating, the lack of wear, traces of lacquer, or evidence of being attached to a body at one time all point to it likely being 20th century. Either way it is large, beautiful, powerful, with great presence, and a great piece of sculpture. Priced as 20th century.
