Country Group: China, Japan and Korea
16/17thC or earlier Korean Bronze Buddhist Monk. Exceptional example of it's type, and the first of this kind of Korean Buddhist figure I have been fortunate enough to be able to offer, as they are relatively uncommon and highly sought after. Five inches tall, 7.25 including the base (base was originally made for a different statue, so the fit is not perfect- they look so good together that I decided to marry them together- base was quite expensive as it is intricately carved). Looks to be contemporary with Ming bronzes in China.
