Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Indian Shiva Nataraj- Lord of the Dance- dancing the cosmic circle of creation and destruction. As with the best of this type, his face embodies equanimity and concentration. This piece is quite rare for several reasons. Silver body and head, base and possibly ornaments are bronze.
1. The body appears to be solid-cast out of nearly pure silver(has not been tested)
2. Hands and feet are of such good quality -most of this type have poorly executed hands and feet- this piece is excellent. Figure is 5.5 inches tall, total height is 7 5/8 inches on custom stand.
