Remarkable and large Sri Lanka 16/17thC Bronze Buddha from the early Kandy period. Based on the casting and feel of the piece I believe it may be much earlier. Retains some of it's original polychrome, (polychrome is uncommon on bronze Lankan Buddhas) which creates a beautiful and very rare patina. It is solid cast (as are almost all authentic Lankan Buddhas cast after about 900 a.d.) It weighs about 13.5 pounds. It is 11 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide at the knee, but due to the body shape it is more the size of most Buddhas at least 13 inches tall. In 20 years I've never seen another like it.
