Monumental Antique Indonesian or other Southeast Asian Island painting. This is a kind of piece I have never seen before in person or in books, so I am not positive where it is from or what its purpose serves. What I can say is that the quality is extremely high and that it looks to be made in the 19th century. At 10' x 10', it is so large that we have not been able to find any place to roll it out and photograph it property in the 2.5 years we have owned it. The photos shown are not very good but they do manage to convey the beauty and scale of this item. We do plan to post better photos as soon as we can find a proper way to hang this piece. It came from a mansion in Ohio that was donated to a super church 50 years ago. Recently, they cleared out the basement and found many fine pieces collected during the family's grand tour of Europe in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
