14/15thC Tibetan book cover with 5 Primordial Buddhas. The very finest of its type you will find anywhere, including museums or the best auction houses. This piece was carved and finished more than 500 years ago with great care and attention to detail down to the smallest detail. Note the photo of the 2 horses. They are so small they cannot even be seen in the photo of the entire cover, and they stand only 1/4 inch high. The faces of all 5 Buddhas are sensitively modeled, and each hold deep spiritual energy. The entire piece has worn as perfect as a piece of this type can wear (refer to the fantastic patina in photos). We acurately took photos to reflect its exact colors and details. One of my best items items on my entire website overall, in that it is a perfect example of its type. Expensive for a book cover, but for good reason. 27.25" x 8.25" x 1", not including the modern custom base which was just made to display this piece at its best. This piece has it all, and is so beautiful to look at.
