Korean Bronze Buddha- I’ve owned this one a long time- bought from a gentleman who lived in Korea 35 years ago, and who collected early Korean pottery while living there. He bought this one early Buddha from a reputable dealer. I was both deeply attracted to it as well as reluctant to purchase it due to the obvious powerful red/brown patina. Everything about it (from the wear pattern where a right handed person would have picked it up, to the type of finishing tools used, to how it would have been put down etc) was correct. Over the years I have examined a number of other Silla bronzes of this type, and the undersides and overall feel are consistent. I showed it to one expert Chinese dealer who believed it to be authentic- he believed that the red had leached out of the alloy over the last 1200 years. The overall impact of this piece is quite impressive. A very nice size at close to 7 inches tall
