Magnificent 15/16thC Northen Sukhothai WalkingBuddha.. Very fine example of its type- as good as those found in many books and museums- the Northern Sukhothai sype is a special form of Buddha developed in Northern Thailand in the 15thC. It has much in common with classic Sukhothai sculpture, but is unique as a style unto itself, and is considered by many (includig me) to be one of the high points in Thai art. The walking Buddha is the rarest and most sought after of all Noerthern Sukhothai (or anystyle really) types. Stands a very good size at 16 inches tall including the integral base. Wear and evidence of cleaning, but no damage, loss, or relairs of any kind. Remains of original lacquer and gilding.
