Authentic Dvarati or other early Buddha tablet. Approaching 1000 years old, this piece has influences of different styles, but is probably from Burma, and possibly from Thailand. The prototypes for this style come from the Pala style in India Years ago there were a number of these in the market place, but the authentic ones have mostly disappeared. I bought a group of early tablets about 20 years ago and kept a few of the best examples for myself, of which this is one. Large at almost 5 inches tall. Most of the others I purchased were found in multiples- this type was only this one found.
