Mongolian Clay Head. 18/19thC. Possibly much earlier. Head is 1 5/8 inches tall, height on custom stand is 4 1/8 I'm not sure how to date this, but it has the look and feeling of being Ming or earlier. It has a small hole on the bottom which appears to have been used for mounting at one time. I've only encountered this type once, about 15-20 years ago when Mongolia was opening to the west and lots of interesting stuff was coming out. Deeply expressive faces. I have a set of 3 related pieces (found at the same time=there were 5 found in total) posted as item 6640.
