Very nice 14/15thC Mon Buddha with remains of original lacquer and gilding. Very rare type that is contemporary with Post-Pagan and early Ava types. There are so few of this type that you will rarely encounter one- even in a book or museum- the base is very distinctive in its round flat shape and is very similar to late Pagan, as is the head leaning forward and looking downward. The large flappy ears, flat face, and look of the face are very much early Mon style. Serene face and lovely overall composition. 5 7/8" tall, 7 5/8 inches on custom stand.
